Partnership with Algerian production company Les Films de la Source for the film LARBI BEN M’HIDI
July 30 2016
The CEVITAL Group is set to co-finance the film LARBI BEN M’HIDI in partnership with Algerian production company Les Films de la Source.
The Cevital Group has just signed a partnership agreement with the Les Films de la Source production company, under which it will co-finance production of the film Larbi Ben M’hidi directed by Bachir Derrais.
This work will be 70% funded by public funds and co-produced by the ministries of Mujahideen and Culture.
For Cevital, this is an opportunity to confirm its intent to promote and support the production of original cultural works in line with its citizen commitments.
The script for this fictional work, which is due to be released in March 2017 and for which filming is already in progress, was written with the assistance of testimonies collected from comrades-in-arms of Larbi Ben M’hidi and his family.
It recounts the life and campaigning of this great figure in Algerian history, from childhood until his execution in 1954, portraying not only Larbi Ben M’hidi the visionary, revolutionary, leader, and military strategist, but above all, the great dreamer.
This partnership was announced at a press conference held on 30 July 2016 at the Palais de la Culture in Algiers in the presence of the Minister for Culture and the producer and director of the film. It confirms the Cevital Group’s intent to support cinematographic works that recount the history of its country and to help safeguard its intangible heritage.
